July 2000--come with us to California

Help select the Libertarian Party's presidential candidates in Anaheim, California. The National Libertarian Convention will be held from June 30 to July 4. If you are a LP member in good standing and want to attend, you should contact Caryn Cohen to express your interest in becoming a delegate. Travel discounts are available, but you are responsible for making (and paying for) your own arrangements.

A good overview of the various people seeking the Libertarian presidential nomination is at http://www.lobbyforme.com/p1/lp.htm. Two of them, plus Ken Krawchuk (who is seeking the vice-presidential nomination) attended the 2000 New York Libertarian Party convention.

Many people are already signed up to represent us in California. You can give them some feedback before they head out there by using this online form. It's not really a vote, but your opinions will be considered.

Travel info

Find your own best arrangements for flying to Anaheim (Orange County = John Wayne Airport = ANA, 12 miles from the Convention Center) or Los Angeles (LAX, 40 miles from the Convention Center), but tell them you're a member of a convention group. You still qualify even if you're flying up to five days before or five days after the convention, that is between June 24th and July 8th.

If you're flying Continental, call your travel agent professional or MeetingWorks at 800-468-7022. Provide the Reservations Agent with your meeting Reference Number: NNY70X. To receive these discounts, the Continental Z code ZB1A must appear on the ticket in the Tour Code Box, Ticket Designator Box, and in the Fare Calculation Ladder. You will qualify for a 5% discount. This discounts increases to 10% if you book more than sixty days ahead. Discounts are 10% and 15%, respectively, for first class bookings. Discounts do not apply to: Senior Citizen, Government or Military fares, companion fares, or Passenger facility Charges. Discounts may not apply to sale fares or promotional fares, or any other discounted offer. (A similar limitation probably applies to the USAir discount.) Please report your itineraries to Richard N. Freedman (rnf@null.net or 1-877-635-6321). He must notify Continental if 10 or more passengers using this agreement are on any common flight.

If you're flying USAir, cite Goldfile #18611528, to be counted as a member of the group that they have set up. (If using a travel agent, tell them to call 1-877-874-7687 and cite the Goldfile number.) You will qualify for an extra 5% discount for ANA, 7% for LAX. These discounts will increase, in some cases, to 10% if you book more than sixty days ahead, and these discounts, too, may increase for first class.
