2008 LP Candidates

How to help financially

The National LP is depending on us to get our Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates on the NY State ballot. They are: former Congressman Bob Barr for President, and Wayne A. Root for Vice president.

NY* We have 4 candidates running in New York City: Susan Overeem and Isaiah Matos for Congress, Bill Buran and Nic Leobold for State Assembly

Please offer them your encouragement, and let us know if you are interested in running as a Libertarian this year or in the future.

Vote!
Your vote for them is appreciated!

Also note that you can now enroll with the Board of Elections as a Libertarian! Please print out forms and ask your libertarian-leaning friends and neighbors to change their enrollment.

Candidates Wanted!

Please give us a heads-up if you are interested in running for any sort of position as a Libertarian.

Please join our list for candidate development if you are interested in running or managing a Libertarian campaign.

For statewide candidates, nomination is made at our convention. If the district in question is entirely outside of any county represented by a chapter, then it is the state committee who needs to make the endorsement, otherwise it is any and all chapters contained within the district.

Join your local LPNY chapter to ask for help, or contact us to start one up if there isn't one yet.

The FEC has a lovely 110-page document for candidates considering running for congress, or managing a campaign (right-click to download).

School Board Elections
NYC School Board elections were cancelled in 2002, and the Mayor took over administration of the district.

If you're interested in running or campaigning for the school board elsewhere, please join the lp-school-board mailing list to discuss the challenges with Libertarians across the country.
